Willy Northpole and the Phoenix hip-hop scene explode

Under the bright club lights at The Door on Scottsdale Road, Willy Northpole is shining like a gold star. The Phoenix-born-and-bred rapper is wearing a shimmering designer shirt that hugs his bulging biceps, and several thick gold chains hang from his neck. The diamond studs in his earlobes flash when he turns his head. He's got a beautiful woman with him; she's wearing a classic little black dress and being very quiet. .

Hunters for the Hungry falling short of goal

Irwin Jacobs, chairman of FLW Outdoors, says he would be wiling to merge the BASS Federation into his tournament operation.

The Federation and its parent organization, BASS, have been warring. BASS recently dismissed several Federation leaders, including Roger Fitchett of Virginia Beach.

A Bass Fan report said that Jacobs had offered the Federation an open door, saying he would provide dollars to help grow grassroots bass programs.

BASS would not be able to survive without the Federation, said Jacobs.

“These people at BASS are single-handedly destroying the Federation," he said..

Jacobs had unkind works for Ray Scott, the founder of BASS. Scott has taken the side of BASS against the Federation, Jacobs said.

Father Foley Cape Cod abuse case settled For $550,000

The Archdiocese of Hartford agreed this week to pay $550,000 to a man who accused the Rev. Stephen Foley of using his position as Hartford County fire chaplain to sodomize him when he was a 14-year-old parishioner in Windsor Locks. Foley, who has been accused of abuse by at least 11 men since 1993 and was removed from public ministry in 2002, is still affiliated with the county fire organization he belonged to when the alleged assault occurred. He now holds the title of "chaplain emeritus" of the group, according to board members... The current president of the group is Windsor Locks Fire Chief Gary Ruggiero. Haber said Ruggiero sent an e-mail to the board of directors Friday criticizing the newspaper for publishing a story last Sunday that exposed Foley's continued use of a police-equipped Crown Victoria with flashing lights, sirens and scanners... abuse took place on a weekend when the boy and his friend accompanied Foley to a home on Cape Cod, which Foley said was owned by his aunt, the brief said.

In Trinity, a slice of hamburger heaven

Craving a heaping helping of something fresh, hot, a bit greasy? These guys thought so.

By MICHAEL KRUSE, Times Staff Writer Published January 27, 2008

TRINITY -- In the rear corner of the Trinity Village Center is a Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, and on the wall inside is a bulletin board, and on the bulletin board are a bunch of note cards. What's written on those note cards is where this story starts.

"Is it wrong," one customer wonders, "that I love Five Guys more than my girlfriend?"

Another: "Five Guys reminds me of a magical castle in the sky filled with fries."

And another: "You get it. And I don't even know what 'it' is."

The Five Guys here on State Road 54 has been open since late October and is the first of a handful set to open in Pasco and Hernando counties in the coming months and years.

Why Kenya will not happen in Ghana.

International observers lauded the 2004 poll as one of the cleanest, and almost a 5% point spread between his Excellency J.A.Kuffour and Atta Mills. It is no wonder that even the pathological liar, former president JJ Rawlings could not say the 2004 elections in Ghana was rigged at his just concluded lecture in Abuja. This lie is cooked by Prof. Atta Mills purely for local consumption.

NPP will win the 2008 elections convincingly on its superior track record of national achievements in the field of democratic multiparty political governance, the rule of law, control of corruption, stability and control of the microeconomic disturbances of the NDC inflation from 54% to less than 10%, the NDC bank interest rate of 48% to under 20% and the cedi rate of exchange which collapsed from C2,500 in March 2000 to C7,500 in November 2000 of the NDC administration to now four years stability of C9,200 under our government.

Scientists Make Human Embryo Clones

Scientists in California say they have produced embryos that are clones of two men, a potential step toward developing scientifically valuable stem cells.

The new report documents embryos made with ordinary skin cells. But it's not the first time human cloned embryos have been made. In 2005, for example, scientists in Britain reported using embryonic stem cells to produce a cloned embryo. It matured enough to produce stem cells, but none were extracted.

Stem cells weren't produced by the new embryos either, and because of that, experts reacted coolly to the research.

"I found it difficult to determine what was substantially new," said Doug Melton of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. He said the "next big advance will be to create a human embryonic stem cell line" from cloned embryos.
