Webcastr Names Videos of the Year
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Webcastr.com, a video website featuring professional video content from over 200 channel providers, today announced the winners of it's Videos of the Year awards. Webcastr's viewers, along with it's editors voted amongst over 2,500 professionally produced videos on the website to pick the best video clips of the year for 2007. Thirty finalists were chosen by the staff of the webbery with the final clips being voted on during the last two weeks of December. Unlike the majority of video sharing sites, Webcastr features clips that come from licensed sources of professional and semi-pro content. "With so much of the user generated content out there being of questionable quality, we are happy to present these awards in recognition of the efforts of pro content creators who increasingly understand the value of the short form online video medium," said Webcastr CEO, Tim Devine.
Friday wild card
Oh well, there's still today, Saturday, Sunday and ... Tuesday. I'll be back breaking big rocks into little rocks on Monday in my corner office of the second floor. Blogmeister KenP'll need a break by then, if he doesn't already need one now. Speaking of Blogmeister KenP, how about a standing O for him out there, for keeping the blog going during my va-cay? Now, onto the Wild Card ... .

They debate intensely about golf revenue, fees, refurbishments, and land acquisition. You could fill a hall with hundreds of golfers to advocate for new sprinklers. If you were firing half the high school English department, I doubt you could match even a fourth of the turnout. For many, golf assumes the trappings of a religion. The club houses can be a chapel; I saw a list of do’s or don’ts on the door of a club house in Dennis which reminded me of the Ten Commandments. Fellowship is stressed here, the ethics of scoring brings in a moral aspect and the role of tradition, and going back to Europe is an important part of golf heritage. Even the harried public administrators of golf courses are like pastors who work untiringly to respond to various constituents. They, like the pope, must provide leadership both for those with their foot on the brake and those with their foot on the accelerator.
U.S. courts consider legality of laptop inspections
Henri from Montreal posted this. I have news for you Henri! This is no longer true since a US Citizen named Jose Padilla was arrested and convicted on THINKING of attacking the US. Oh, I can hear you all screaming that it happened to him because he's a Muslim terrorist. Well, I have more news for you all. There's something out there called "THE PATRIOT ACT" that nowhere in it's body mentions the word "terrorist". Which means, very clearly by the way, that it can be used against anybody for any reason. And please don't come crying with the "Constitution" thing… The Patriot Act abolished the Constitution, believe it or not. .
The season to be responsible
A lot of what's left after the festive frenzy can easily be recycled, including wrapping paper, aluminium cans, glass and plastic bottles. Recycling these items not only means less landfill but also reduces the amount of resources required to make new ones. According to Planet Ark, making plastic from recycled material uses 30% of the energy needed to make it from scratch. Recycling one tonne of plastic saves enough energy to run a refrigerator for a month. However, in your enthusiasm to give a gift to the planet, make sure you take a moment to check that everything going into your recycling bin really is recyclable. Heat-resistant glass (such as Pyrex) and waxed cardboard, for example, are not suitable for recycling. By including these items you can contaminate the rest of the collection and require it to be sent to landfill.
Thai parliament elects pugnacious Samak as PM
Democracy campaigners also regard him with distrust, remembering his vitriolic radio campaign against student activists in the mid-1970s and support for a bloody crackdown in October 1976 that led to a coup. He then served briefly as interior minister in the military-appointed government. "He was a very outspoken, right-wing politician who attacked the student movement and justified the crackdown and killings that took place at Thammasat University," said Chulalongkorn University political scientist Giles Ungphakorn. "He said the people who died were Vietnamese agents and there was no evidence of that at all." .
