There is no doubt that it is a major advantage to be a black conservative in politics, business, talk radio and a number of other professions. White people have come to open themselves up to black success, black intelligence, and black congeniality. Observing America and the world in 2006-07, it would be Pollyannaish to say that racial prejudice was defeated, any more than terrorism or drugs have been defeated. But the world is a vastly different place today, and if one studies the subject hard enough, they might not find any place like the American South in the 37 years that span 1970 to 2007. Southern sportswriters have there take on the evernt, whether it be Allen Barra, Keith Dunnavant, or the Birmingham Post-Herald's Bill Lumpkin, who in response to recent books and movies depicting the event wrote, "I'm sure the abundance of Alabama fans in the Legion Field crowd of 72,157 left the game that night saying to themselves: We've got to have a Sam Cunningham.
Rider rolls to Winter Cup soccer title
The defending Class 4A champions also earned a 2-0 victory over Fort Worth Poly on Saturday to advance to the final, while Vista Ridge beat Wichita Falls High School, 2-1. The final was contested for about 20 minutes before Guy Bigot gave Rider a 1-0 lead with a 23-yard left-footed blast into the net. It looked more like a cross but, planned or not, the ball was struck soundly and good enough for Bigot's fifth goal of the season. Connor Cain played the ball down the sideline to Bigot for the assist. Moments later, Justin Anderson took a long shot, and when the goalkeeper couldn't corral it, Joey Neale made the Rangers pay with his second goal of the day for a 2-0 lead. Justin Anderson, Kelly Gill and Nathan Fitzgerald had second-half goals for the Raiders. Gill's was a wicked blast from outside the box.
Tangled web: Spider-Man, Mary Jane break up in latest plot line
Nobody could have seen this celebrity breakup coming: After more than 20 years of marriage, Spider-Man and Mary Jane are kaput. And it was easier to do that, he said, if Parker wasn't married. This week's plot twist left many comic-book fans climbing the walls. .

Restless spirits
The Iconoclast from Canada writes: The British invaded and looted Tibet of its cultural treasures before the Chinese. " Neither of which is acceptable. The beauty of Western Civilization is that we CAN question our leaders and acknowledge and PROTEST the hideous things we've done in the past (and still do today). Sadly, the good people of China, Burma and Tibet don't have that option. Posted 03/11/07 at 2:41 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .
News briefs from around Kentucky at 5:58 a.m. EST
Mount Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenhall said Krajcir likely got information about the attempted murder of 72-year-old Ida White from fellow inmate, Grover Thompson, when both were at the Illinois prison's psychiatric ward. Thompson died in 1996. Carroll said there were two other suspects in the Tharp murder but no evidence they ever crossed paths with Krajcir. Commonwealth Attorney Tim Kaltenbach said he also believes Krajcir was responsible for Tharp's death. --- FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - When an Ohio historian helped pull a massive sandstone boulder from the bottom of the Ohio River this summer, he didn't think it would set off a charged dispute between Kentucky and Ohio. It did. One Kentucky legislator is demanding the 8-ton rock's return, and another believes the matter will ultimately be decided in the courts.

Three years later, following BMP's bankruptcy, SZP became the main Russian shipping line in the Baltic region. 1994 In August 1994, the Sovintorg company started to buy up shares of the Sakhalin Maritime Shipping Line (SakhMP) from its employees and Far Eastern voucher funds. In the process, Sovintorg learned that its 14% share holding was to become 1.4% as a result of an additional emission of shares. The emission leading to the increase of the initial capital from 934 million to 11 billion rubles was approved by SakhMP shareholders in May. In November, the board of directors of the Primorye Maritime Shipping Line (PMP) decided to conduct an additional emission worth 212.22 million rubles. The agent for the new emission was a PMP subsidiary - AO Prisko-Stoks, which bought up all the new shares.
Silver Surfer flies high enough to entertain
I grew a comic book fan. Some of my fondest memories of childhood are the days my father would take me to the old train station in Fort Wayne and let me pick through colorful adventure books. I had read mostly the DC superhero titles like Superman and Batman and an occasional Gold Key-Magnus, Robot Fighter, things like that, and a stray Donald Duck or other Disney comic book. But, this Marvel thing was new. The heroes were different-often flawed, invariably troubled with tremendous personal problems, like the folks in the Edge of Night, the soap my grandfather dutifully watched every weekday. One of my favorite Marvel titles was the Fantastic Four. Transformed into super powered guardians of humanity, they should have been happy to achieve a nearly invincible status due to a fateful bath of mysterious cosmic rays.
